Frank and Julie Korb began Korb Pottery in the summer of 2022. Deciding to become social again, they joined a local pottery workshop and took some classes together. Frank, being an artist and educator for his adult career has always been engaged in the creative process and looking to find new ways to create. Julie, being a strong supporter of the arts (and Frank), as well as a creative in a variety of different maker’s approaches (with a day job that is not in the arts field) was also curious to get her hands on new materials. After the course and a series of borrowed wheels, Korb Pottery was born. With successful sales and private commissions as well as wholesale contracts, Korb Pottery makes functional, colorful, and expressive everyday tableware and houseware pottery.
Korb Pottery (Frank and Julie) work with Laguna B mix stoneware clay. They bisque to cone 08 and glaze fire to cone 6. Korb Pottery creates functional ceramics for everyday use. Frank does all of the wheel throwing and Julie makes all of the handbuilt pieces and glazing of the works.
Frank Korb is known for his abstract and plein air works and focuses on the formality of the push and pull of the elements and principles of art in his work.
