We Hold a Frozen View,” 8″ x 16″, $580

“Unnamed 2 9.29.12,” $1,000,000

“Unnamed 1 9.29.12,” $1,000,000

“This Is Up To You,” 5 1/2 ” x 6 1/2″, $155

“Face Our True Situation,” 5 1/2 ” x 6 1/2″, $155

“Know About the Appearance,” 5 1/2 ” x 6 1/2″, $155

Prior to Forming Any Ideas About It,” 12″ x 8″, $450

These are some of the most recent works completed. Two of the works aren’t in my hands and while I cannot think of the titles NOR the scale of the works, I figure a grab bag price of $1,000,000 isn’t asking too much. Secondly, the town of Waterford, WI is having it’s first River’s Edge Art Walk on October 19th. The goal is to bring the small town back to the arts (a reason a portion of the small town was established was because of the artists who settled in the area known as the Waterford Woods). I will be located in the Waterford Public Library while some of my student’s work (from the local High School) will be in a wonderful family restaurant straight across the street from me – Marty’s).

October 19, River’s Edge Art Walk, 5pm – 9pm, Waterford, WI, Frank Korb, Waterford Public Library.

I hope to see you there!

Gallery Representation – Xanadu Gallery, Scottsdale, AZ

Xanadu Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona has just added me to their list of artists. My work can, at the writing of this post, be seen by going to the Xanadu Gallery Website and will in the future, have works in the gallery proper. I am very excited about this next step in my career and look forward to future steps and success. Below is a new work which can be seen on my Abstractions page above or on the gallery site.

“Run With What You Imagine,” 17″ x 11.5″, $685

Tiny Works…

I was given a set of notebooks by one of my lifelong and best friends, Eric Christensen, as a 40th birthday gift this year. I thought immediately of how I could use them to create new artworks. The few works shown below are three of a number I have created from this notebook series, with more to come. I am interested in your thoughts, follow my blog, give me your feedback… Thanks – Frank

“This Is What We Have to See,” 6 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, $155

“The Way to Wake Up,” 6 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, $155

“Controversial Backdrop Sought” at the Art*Bar, Milwaukee

Sunday, August 5, 2012 was my latest run at Don Krause’s Open Canvas Night, “One Week Paintings” at the Art*Bar (located at 722 East Burleigh Street, Milwaukee, WI). I have had an opportunity to paint there every year since it open. I believe this was my 7th run at it. Artists will come in and be faced with a canvas from the previous week and have the opportunity to, for 8 or so hours, create their own work right over the top of the previous week’s work. In the past I have incorporated the week prior’s into mine, but this time around, I collaged over the entire work and set mine apart from the previous one. The work I left fits in with the current body of work I am producing and fits in nicely near the front entrance to this ever-so-popular Riverwest establishment. If you happen to be in the area and are looking for a moment to sit and have a drink (I understand Gary makes a spectacular Bloody Mary – or was it a Bloody Gary?) please do so. Don in looking to fill some Sunday nights and all you need to do is give him a call (the Art*Bar, owner Don Krause, telephone: 1 (414) 372 – 7880 or on the web at: http://artbar-riverwest.com/). Full Moon Four Miler Race – Waterford

The awards are finished and true to the style of my abstractions. The horizontal lines, the negative space, even text has been worked into the finished pieces. I plan on running in the event, but I know full well I will not win one of my own awards. The GREAT thing is all the money raised goes into the Art Department’s Scholarship / Activities fund at Waterford Union High School! Good Luck to ALL the runners! Saturday, August 4, 2012 in Waterford, WI.

NEW WORKS 2012

The development and revisiting of abstractions is on its way. While I love the portrait (Chick Close, Alex Katz, Alice Neel) the “simplicity” of design elements and principles are what attract me. Linear exploration of texture, color, contrast, text… I am very interested in the use of these as the subject matter, the impetus behind my works. Please visit the “Abstractions” page (above) to visit these works. Below is an example (and pricing) of one work. I AM interested in your thought, feedback, FOLLOWING, and references to others who might ALSO be interested.  Please share your thoughts with me – enjoy!

“Examples of What’s Acceptable and What’s Not,” 8″ x 24″, $580

Changes are Coming…

Welcome to the future of Frank Korb’s Art Site. Thanks for visiting. Over the next few months, many new changes will be taking place here so make sure you check back often. Enjoy your visit!

New Daily Works – and a Skull

Over the past month I have been focusing on the linear qualities of art. How Can a feeling or message be expressed through line. The grounds have been the supportive material in that they are the holder of the direction or composition, however the linear and liquid aspect of the watercolor / gouache have been the emotional tie in. And then there is the skull.
