Thank you Jeff Kursel and all those who helped make the 2013 Open canvas at the Pritzlaff Building in Milwaukee, WI so FUN and SUCCESSFUL! While I have NO IDEA as to the final donations from the silent auction, the people that were there were truly wonderful to talk to. Your generosity to support the Visual Arts… AWESOME. I had some incredibly wonderful conversations on Saturday night, November 23. I wish I could remember ALL your names… but THANK YOU for making my night so much fun. Especially to Kathleen Tatterson at River Edge gallery in Thiensville, WI and to Maya Scherer from Burton and Mayer, Inc. for their, as well as many others, inquiries about my work. thank you to Sophie Okin and fellow artist Scott Okin for their wonderful conversation. My friend Frank Juarez, new colleagues and future friends… this was wonderful to see you all and make new connections. The painting and making were only part of the fun. I enjoyed the conversations more than anything. But… because the finished product is fun to see… here you go. The 2 works sold together for $275. All proceeds went to MIAD and the Peck School of the Arts, UWM.

Den Leader Greg Gotcher and his Den 3 of Waterford WI’s Webelos Den. We created a series of GREAT Artworks based on the ideas of Pop Artist Jasper Johns. Thanks Mr. Johns for the inspiration.

Murphy’s Law came into play before the meeting however and the Google Presentation that was built didn’t wprk. Scouts, HERE you go…

 Simply put, the arts are essential to the proper functioning of our society.  The arts continue to demonstrate their ability to provide categorical evidence of their impact on social issues that concern virtually every facet of American society.  The arts are especially important for our children.  Students with an arts rich education:
  • Have better grade point averages
  • Score better on standardized tests in reading and math
  • Have lower dropout rates

Funding for arts education programs in schools is being cut back or eliminated.  Many arts organizations have had to make drastic reductions in hours, and offer fewer productions each season.

The work of the Arts Action Fund helps reverse these trends.  The Arts Action Fund is the only national organization that mobilizes Americans in the fight for arts funding and arts education. Once again, but with a moving twist, I offer a brief glimpse of the works currently on display (and for sale) at Cafe LuLu in the Bay View neighborhood of Milwaukee, WI. When you happen to be in the neighborhood – please stop in and take a look. My family and I had a great lunch there and this is a short video of the works. Please, stop in and check out the works, have a GREAT MEAL, and contact me when you are interested in the works. Also… mark your calendars for September 27 when the ENTIRE BAY VIEW Neighborhood opens their artistic doors to celebrate the artwork, artists, art galleries, and art spaces that Bay View, Milwaukee has to offer. New Exhibition… 10 Years Since Last Cafe LuLu Show

Thanks to Cam Roberts at the Bay Milwaukee staple for a good meal, great times, and awesome art (mine notwithstanding, I hope) CAFE LuLu. The show went up in record time: 3 hours SOLO. I lost one work to a 12 foot drop but… I hope to have it up and in place on Wednesday afternoon. I am really pleased with the showing – perhaps you can see the groups that were made as you look things over. This exhibition of works will be on display through October so… while it is there, get in and check it out. I hope to get a lot of comments, feedback, and followers. Milwaukee Gallery Night is this Friday, but Bay View’s Gallery night is in September – enjoy the show.

What’s Been Happening Lately? Works from the Studio.

With new works come new ideas! I also find that a good run helps me to get some ideas  moving around in the head and then to the board (not so much canvas…). The five newest works added to the larger body of abstract works will be on view at Cafe LuLu in the Bay View Neighborhood of Milwaukee (2265 S Howell Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53207) by the end of the month (except “I Will Fill it With Splendid Gifts” gone, destroyed, bye, bye – Thanks Don at the Art*Bar in Milwaukee – AWESOME “One Week Painting”. Please take a moment to look through these works and see (week of July 22). These works have become a lot more about the recycling of materials, often found in the streets, but sometimes found in studio, and even classroom – thanks Phelan! I have taken some time to think about the materials that are being used and, thanks to a recent trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum, the materials have regained a sense of purpose. Enjoy!

Ok… This is a blog from another site of mine, but the amount of images is a A LOT to copy over… well… the gallery portion is. I took a moment to stop at the Art*Bar in Milwaukee to check out what the artist did on Sunday evening to work OVER my painting… it was AWESOME! There is still KORB painting left. Thank you!
